Message The reason was alluded to in the video but not emphasized because many gear heads like to focus on upgrades rather than results. The temperatures going into the engine was 42C regardless of the initial set ups. Only a change in air quality entering THE ENGINE --not the intake-- has a shot of enhancing performance.

Even if the air temp entering the engine was decreased either the sophistication of the ECU or the underlying engine tune must be able to take advantage of it. Without this the results could be a little better, a little worse, but most certainly sub-optimized depending on the engine system's natural sensitivity to such changes. Same as putting higher octane gas in an engine that wasn't designed to reap the benefits of higher octane. Performance benefits will be small at best!

The advantage of the pod set up is really focused on increasing "pressure recovery", i.e. feeding the engine system higher pressure assumed to be at the same temperature. This provides the engine higher quality air too. Which is better for performance: higher pressure, or lower temperature? That depends on many factors including the system itself and is not obvious... at least not to me. But I assure you this, the OEM system is highly optimized for the configuration and assumptions that were used in its design... especially nowadays. Simply throwing upgrades, time, and $$ against a stock setup doesn't immediately translate to noticeable performance benies.
